How Many Celebrities Have Died from Overdose?
It doesn’t make a difference where you live, how old you are, what your economic status or how famous you are, you are susceptible to becoming addicted to drugs or alcohol. Addiction can be deadly. The number of celebrities that have passed away due to overdose in the last few years should prove this point.
Many of these celebrities had everything to live for in the eyes of the world, but that did not stop their addictions from overtaking them. Some celebrities who suffered from drug and alcohol addiction have come out about their recovery from drugs and alcohol to inspire more people to get into recovery.
Let’s look at a few of these celebrities whose talent has been recently lost to the world.
Musician Prince Died from an Overdose of Opioids
How did Prince Die?
Prince Rogers Nelson was at last seen alive at his Paisley Park complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota. According to the reports, the Carver County’s sheriff received a 911 emergency call from Prince’s Paisley Park estate. Upon arriving, the officials found Prince unconscious and immobile in the elevator of his recording studios. An ambulance arrived at the scene and gave emergency CPR, but Prince’s body was unresponsive. He was declared dead at 10:04 a.m. on April 21, 2016.
According to Reports:
Andrew Kornfield, the emergency caller from Prince’s Paisley Park estate, had revealed that he and his father Dr. Howard Kornfield were treating the singer during those days. Prince was given a treatment to fight his opioid addiction.
Many of us remember Prince and his songs. Many of us celebrated life at one of his concerts. It’s always sad to see someone pass away, but more so when they pass away from addiction.

Whitney Houston’s Daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown
Bobbi Kristina Brown has passed away at the age of 22 at the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia on Sunday (July 26) Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in late January and has been in a medically induced coma until her death.
According to Eonline.com Bobbi Brown Stated:
Brown noted the eerie similarities between his daughter’s death and his ex-wife’s passing in 2012. Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her home in Georgia in January 2015; she died in hospice care six months later. In March 2016, the coroner determined her cause of death was water immersion and mixed drugs.
Whitney Houston was found unconscious in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in February 2012. Her death was ruled an accidental drowning, but she had traces of cocaine in her system. “The same thing that happened to my daughter, it happened to Whitney” Bobby said.
Harris Wittels ‘Parks and Recreation’ Executive Producer Dies of Possible Drug Overdose
Harris Wittels has died at the young age of 30 from a possible drug overdose, according to TMZ. The executive producer of Parks and Recreation was discovered dead at his home around 1 P.M. on Thursday February 19. According to the police, Harris was found lying on his couch with no trauma to his body. However, they did find drug paraphernalia around his home according to JustJared.
Last year, Harris, who had gone to drug and alcohol rehab twice, opened up on his battles with drug addiction. Watch the video below.
How many more people do we have to lose to overdose before we wake up?
How many more people need to senselessly die from drug and alcohol addiction? We have 5-10,000 people in the U.S. die from drug overdose every year. Drug and alcohol addiction affects everyone who’s involved, mother, father, sister and brother. Families try everything to help their loved one stop using drugs and alcohol, and to no avail.
The medical community is doing everything they can and it still isn’t enough. People need to learn more about addiction and the underlying circumstances of it.
